The mini wall hanging is easy to complete even for those with no weaving experience. You can learn fringe, basic weaving, diagonal weaving, 'soumak', tufting, and even how to sew a wall hanging.
Materials needed:
- Weaving Loom: It should be at least 10 ×18 cm weaveable. If you don't have any weaving loom; don't worry. You can make a paper weaving board using a template on the last page.
- Warp Thread: Use strong, multi-ply cotton thread. (cotton warp 8/4 or 4/4) If you use a paper weaving board, you’ll need 350 cm.
- Weft Yarn: Use 2-3 mm thick yarn, you need 2500 cm.
- Soumak / Tufting yarn: Use yarn 2-3 mm thick in 7 colors. You need 300 cm per color.
- Header Yarn: Use yarn 5-6 mm thick.I recommend cotton yarn as it unravels easily.
- Wallhaing Rod: 3-5 mm in diameter and 7 cm long.
- Tapestry Needle: A needle with a curved tip is easier to weave.
- Scissors: You can use any kind of scissors, but I recommend cutting only the yarn to avoid dulling it.
